Geronimo Stiltonoot, the prehistoric ancestor of Geronimo

Geronimo Stiltonix, the intergalactic version of Geronimo

Geronimo Stiltonord, the viking like version of Geronimo
Geronimo Stilton, also known in the books by his surname, Stilton, is the main character of the Geronimo Stilton book series, an anthropomorphic mouse and its TV adaptation. He works as the head editor and publisher of his newspaper company, The Rodent's Gazette. He's a nervous and mild-mannered mouse who often gets taken for wild adventures and experiences by his family and friends.
Appearance
Geronimo is a mouse with brown, copper or orange fur. He may have either green or brown-black eyes. His most defining feature is his mango-shaped snout, drawn longer than the average mice/rats.
Another of his most recognizable point in his design was his round-framed glasses, though he was not wearing it in his cartoon version.
He dresses very nicely, donning a green suit with a red tie and white shirt (light blue in cartoon). He also used to wear a waistcoat, but not in his first appearance (1997), the cartoon, and has ditched it since the newer books starting from Hug A Tree, Geronimo.
Personality
In the books, Geronimo is a timid, clumsy, and shy bookworm who's often afraid of everything that can hurt him (to the point of irrational fear). He's a bit old-fashioned, preferring to stay indoors, read books at an open fire, and listen to classical music in his off-time; which most of his family can't understand, thus dragging him out on crazy adventures, most of them being some degree of extreme sport. There are only two reasons Geronimo would ever go on a dangerous, life-threatening adventure: his inability to say no to Benjamin (or anyone assertive in general), or helping or saving a friend who is in danger. Geronimo is more than willing to go into dangerous places if it means he saves a friend who's in trouble, which has unfortunately been exploited by other people multiple times.
Any other time that doesn't involve these reasons is often because he's been strong-armed into it without his consent, and can't pull away from it because all reasons or excuses he can make are fully taken into account and prepared against by the person strong-arming him (i.e. "My schedule is full" "I asked your secretary to cover for you for the next few weeks"; "I can't just leave now, no one would've expected this!" "Actually I told everyone already! You're the last one to know.")
In the animated series, Geronimo is brave, calm, determined, stubborn, open minded (especially about going on adventures) a bit more proactive, clever and quick to anger (especially when it comes to Trap's antics) though he is still retains his nervous and cautious nature along with his motion sickness but is still always willing to help someone in need. Furthermore, he is an honest journalist and mystery-solver, Unlike his book counterpart his journalistic instincts and reporter skills shine through he is often chasing a scoop and is quick to action in terms of getting a great story for the Rodents Gazette. He is also more assertive and confident than his book counterpart as he is not afraid to stand up for himself, stand up for others and confront people for their wrongdoings.
He’s also really observant able to pick up on things that no one else sees which has helped him and his friends and family in solving cases and as such he trusts his instincts and is able to find out a persons true intentions after putting pieces together. He’s also able to keep his cool more and make plans when under pressure and is less absent minded.
In the show, Geronimo is also pretty clever and resourceful as in "Ravenrat" where he and Thea make a makeshift battering ram. In the episode "The Cave Mouse", he makes a makeshift lighting rod to help Benjamin charge his Ben Pad. He is also more capable of taking risks when it is needed as in the episode "Pole Rat", where he goaded Crunchrat into shooting his laser at them only to tell his family to duck as the laser is bounced back thanks to the ice. His stubbornness shines through in the episode "The Gator Samaritan" when he wants to unmask to Gator and is willing to travel into the sewers of New Mouse City to do so, something his book counterpart would never do willingly.

Trivia
- Geronimo is stated to be 36 in the Dutch standalone site, De Wakkere Muis.
- His sibling status with Thea is still unclear. They do have the same elongated snouts to be biological siblings, but the Giovane Gero spinoffs explain that they have too big of an age gap to be "adopted together as infants". Thea was still a baby when Geronimo was 12.
- Being the uncle of Benjamin implies that Geronimo has one other sibling besides Thea, who hasn't been seen or mentioned in the books or animated series.
- He hates being nicknamed, preferring a full "Geronimo" over "Gerry" or anything else. Official Italian content suggests that he's comfortable to be referred as "Gero", however - shown in Giovane Gero above and a video of Thea calling him that.
- In the show, there was an Easter egg in a newspaper picture where Geronimo is wearing glasses. It could be implied he's using contacts or had eye surgery.
- In the cartoon, Geronimo's fur is darker than Trap and a tiny bit less red than Benjamin. Later book artworks take this further by giving him a tan underside fur.
- Geronimo is shown to be allergic to coconuts and cinnamon in the TV show ("Sea Rats" and "The Great Jellybean Adventure" respectively).
- Geronimo wrote that he hates traveling in the older books. He loves it in current books, showing his growth over the 25+ years in series.
- This also suggests that he could be an unreliable narrator, writing his woes just for fun and making his readers feel pity.
- In Race Across America, Geronimo's home address is written on his package as 8 Mouseford Lane, 13131 New Mouse City, Mouse Island.
- In mini book 2: The Lake Monster and in Mouse House Hunter, it is revealed that Geronimo has a goldfish named Hannibal.
- Geronimo may be more physically capable than he thinks:
- In Fabumouse School Adventure, Geronimo is known for his agility and athleticism due to his training in gymnastics.
- In The Karate Mouse and The Way of the Samurai, Geronimo takes lessons in martial arts.
- In The Giant Diamond Robbery, Geronimo is accepted into the MISSO (Mouse Island Secret Service Organization) as an operative with the codename OOG. Despite that, he never mentions anything about running a special operations mission or even working for the agency in later books.
- He has multiple look-alikes across media:
- Ralph Stilton of Bojack Horseman is a blatant reference.
- Mr. Ratburn of Arthur
- Loid Forger, codename Twilight of Spy x Family is especially famous with internet users.
- Harvey of Stardew Valley
- Harry DuBois of Disco Elysium
Description According to Atlantyca
This is the description from the Italian site translated into English:
"Geronimo Stilton is a well-known journalist and the president of the Stilton Media Group, a media group that includes television news, a newspaper (The Rodent's Gazette, the most famous newspaper in Mouse Island) and even a blog.
Geronimo is a type, even a mouse, full of resources, from the brilliant mind and exceptional nose, but you can not just say that you love "jumping headlong into breathtaking adventures." Geronimo is a klutz and it's very awkward, afraid of any vehicle with wheels, tracks or wings, but if he can smell a scoop... he's ready to go into the jungle, explore the secrets of the sewers of New Mouse City or ride on the back of a yak!
Despite his quiet nature, Geronimo has a brilliant mind and a vast culture, he is the type of mouse that can find a way to solve all problems and that, at the end of each adventure, proves the real hero of the situation."
Here is an English version of his description:
"Geronimo Stilton is the Editor-in-Chief of New Mouse City’s most popular news blog and print The Rodent’s Gazette, as well as the head of the Geronimo Stilton Media Group.
Although endlessly curious and resourceful, Geronimo Stilton is never set out to be an adventure-seeker.
He’s reluctant, fearful, allergic, and nervous, but he is still a mouse who can rise to the occasion and take charge.
After his initial (comical) reaction to a crisis or the adventure at hand, Geronimo will be the one who can keep a clear head and save the day. He is a leader and a hero when needed.
Geronimo has an encyclopedic knowledge that ALWAYS comes into play on adventures.
Geronimo has friends all over the world!!"
