Nicky and Colette's bio

Nicky is an Australian member of the Thea Sisters, an adventurous friend group founded by Thea Stilton.

Physical Appearance

Nicky has dark-grey-and-white fur and red hair that is tied in pig tails. Her eyes are green matching the color she is usually associated with, but sometimes they're depicted as being reddish brown in color. She used to wear a cowboy hat rather frequently on casual days, but she's stopped doing so in the later books. Her usual outfit consists of an orange sleeveless midriff turtleneck, a dark green crop top jacket with scale-like designs in varying shades of green on the sleeves and waist, baggy brown pants that have zig-zag stitch designs on them, and a red belt-bag.

Nicky is described as having an athletic and agile build, as she is the fastest of the Thea Sisters when it comes to running speed and has the most endurance (however she is not quite on the same level as professional athletes, as seen in Race for the Gold). She is more along the lean side of the athletic spectrum, seeing she also practices gymnastics according to The Dance Challenge. Physical strength is also not her strong suit, as indicated in a scene in Journey to Atlantis, where Pam is shown being physically stronger than her.

Family

She family is mentioned to a certain degree in The Mountain of Fire, and it's confirmed that at least one side of Nicky's family is Aborigine. Her parents are mentioned but never seen (making an appearance in the later books at one point), and her Aborigine grandma Naya was taking care of the ranch in their stead. Besides her nuclear family, Nicky's cousins Billy, Mitch, Ted and her soon-to-be cousin-in-law Lily make an appearance.

Biography

Nicky was born and raised in the Australian Outback a few kilometers away from Sydney, and she came to Whale Island to study at Mouseford Academy, where she met her best friends Paulina, Colette, Violet and Pamela.

Personality

Nicky is very athletic, energetic, restless and gutsy. She is usually the one to perform athletic or even dangerous stunts without missing a beat in the name of solving the group's mysteries, such as the firetruck chase in Big Trouble in the Big Apple and the train roof scene in The Mystery On the Orient Express. She enjoys exercising and being outside, as shown by her daily routine of waking up early and going on a morning run, and the fact that she is so loyal to this exercise routine that she sticks to it even when the Thea Sisters are in other countries either for vacation or solving mysteries (she added "an eight-mile run in the park" in the girls' itinerary in The Compass of the Stars). Even her vacations alone involve being outside and doing things mostly in nature. This athleticism might be a byproduct of her claustrophobia and inability to sit still for too long.

Her deep love for animals is showcased multiple times in the series, usually in occasions where they need help or are at the mercy of less than noble people. She is almost always if not always the first one to notice an animal in danger and will always drop whatever she is doing to help the animal. This, the fact that she lives in the Outback, and her desire to become an ecologist has given Nicky a near encyclopedic knowledge of a lot of animals; however the difference between this and Violet's notoriously encyclopedic knowledge of general things is that Violet has attained her knowledge of general information through books while Nicky has attained her knowledge of books mostly through personal experience and her involvement with the Green Mice, an global environmental organization that she and Paulina are a part of.

Trivia

  • Nicky's overall appearance was changed to match the brighter, more cartoony art style of The Spanish Dance Mission onwards. The most notable design tweaks are that she no longer wears a hat, and her hair color has been changed from red to auburn.
    • The introduction art also changed in Thea Stilton and the Tropical Treasure.
  • According to the article in Heroes Wiki, Nicky is predicted to be a teenager aged at 15-16 years old. This is probably an assumption made by the writer of the article as there is no clear evidence in any Thea Sister book which reveals her exact and true age.
  • In The Dragon's Code, it was revealed that Nicky and Paulina are in an environmental organization called "The Green Mice"
    • The organization and its members have made appearances and has even had their affairs part of the main plots in The Ice Treasure, The Prince's Emerald and Madagascar Madness.
    • The organization is called the "Blue Mice" in the comics and Sorci Blu in the Italian books.
  • Despite being Aussie, Nicky has barely been seen using any Australian lingo in the books. The only time she has ever done so was in The Mountain of Fire, where she says “drongo“, an Aussie slang word meaning “idiot”.
  • She is an experienced horseback rider, having ridden horses many times in her family ranch and even being able to perform tricks.
    • Her favorite horse in the ranch is Stella, a white mare who makes a brief appearance in The Mountain of Fire.
  • She is very knowledgeable in the physiology and behavioral patterns of animals, as seen in multiple instances throughout the series. This is likely due to her country life in the Australian Outback, her involvement with the Green Mice, her interest in ecology, and her active life in general.
  • She has been seen playing the guitar a few times. She‘s played a duet with Violet in Big Trouble in the Big Apple, and she was the guitarist for the group’s band in Mice Take the Stage, The Royal Ball, and the comic A Song for the Thea Sisters.
  • In The Dance of the Star Fairies, Nicky is shown to have skill in archery, having practiced in her family's ranch to the point where she's practically an expert.
  • One of Nicky’s (many) hobbies is surfing, and she has been shown to be very good at it in Legend of the Fire Flowers and the comic book Catching the Giant Wave. According to her, this is because she's gone surfing very frequently in Australia.
  • According to a letter Nicky has written to Paulina in the French edition of the books, The Dragon's Code was the first time Nicky and Paulina had met each other in person, only having contacted each other via e-mail prior.
